Beautiful center located right off the Blue Ridge Parkway. The staff is very helpful, explaining the different sections of the center, as well as any exhibits and/or events they have. While we were there, a band was playing bluegrass music. It was very enjoyable listening to them play. They also had a moonshine exhibit that was curated by Ferrum College. The main attraction at the center is the bluegrass history exhibit. They have a great deal of artifacts and the history is fascinating. I highly suggest planning an hour or two to visit the Blue Ridge Music Center.

Amazing venue that's part of the Blue Ridge Parkway national park system. Great sound and very relaxed atmosphere. You can bring coolers (no alcohol though). Would absolutely come see another show here.

If you are on the Blue Ridge Parkway, don't miss this stop! It was a real treat to sit and listen to these musicians. The group was super friendly. Invited questions from the audience, and just really had a passion for playing and singing. We found the Blue Ridge Music Center by chance and loved it so much, we went back the next day. There's a museum inside the center with exhibits about the history of "Hill-Billy" music. I enjoyed seeing the instruments and learning where this music originated. There's also a nice store for unique gifts and clean restrooms.

What an amazing place! I wished I lived closer so I could stop in more often. The center is open from 10-5 but only live music - every day - from noon to 4. I ended up arriving shortly after 10am, then going to lunch in Mt. Airy, then coming back to hear some music around 1:00. I wish I had stayed the night near Mt. Airy then come up for the museum and music and not backtracked. There are also some trails around and a huge outdoor stage, and large bathrooms. The shop sells music, musical instruments, and more standard souvenir things. Make sure to push the buttons to hear the music in the museum! And play with the two big screens - there is a lot of fun stuff to see and hear.
