The Houston Improv Reviews

Food prices are high but the food was pretty good. Salt and pepper shakers were pretty gross (sticky). TVs kept cycling between on and off (comedian even asked them to fix it when he was on stage). Seating was pretty tight at tables but seats along the back row were reasonably spaced. Note that they do add a service charge (like 18%) on the bill even for 2 people and they still ask for a tip so plan to spend about $30 per person (not counting cocktails). Still, had a great time and was a good date night.

My friends and I were so excited to see Alyssa Edwards when she came to town and we quickly got a table to the show! First off - Alyssa and all the local Houston Queens were EXCELLENT!!! And so were the food and beverage servers. However - our experiences was made unpleasant by the conditions at the venue. For starters - their sound system is clearly broken and the speakers constantly vibrate. The “spot light” for the performers was a staff member standing towards the back of the venue standing on a chair holding a flashlight (which was constantly shining on our faces). The venue demanded the show hold to a strict length - which resulted in cutting off the last 3-4 numbers with the local queens (causing them to lose tip money) At first, the venue claimed this was because the sound system was malfunctioning - but clearly they just wanted to show to end. The irony is that they were promoting a “drag brunch” at the venue. As talented as the queens were - the venue doesn’t lend itself to a friendly and pleasant environment - so we won’t be attending the drag brunch. If you want the queer dollar - provide better service and meet the needs of our community. Rest assured - the stars given were for the talent - not the venue.

This past weekend, I had the pleasure of visiting The Houston Improv, a venue known for its vibrant atmosphere and lineup of stellar comedic talent. My visit was specifically to see Shawn Wayne, a member of the illustrious Wayne family, whose reputation for humor precedes him. The experience was nothing short of spectacular, blending an evening of laughter with the unique charm that only The Houston Improv can offer. From the moment I entered, I was greeted by a warm and inviting ambiance, perfect for the night of entertainment that awaited. The staff was friendly and efficient, ensuring that every guest felt welcomed and taken care of throughout the evening. The seating arrangement provided a great view of the stage from all angles, making it an intimate experience despite the crowd. Shawn Wayne's performance was the highlight of the night. His unique blend of humor, storytelling, and audience interaction was captivating. He masterfully navigated through various topics, keeping the audience engaged and roaring with laughter. His presence on stage was both commanding and charismatic, showcasing his prowess as a seasoned comedian. It was a performance that not only lived up to but exceeded the high expectations set by his family's legacy. The Houston Improv also impressed with its menu selection. While most come for the comedy, the food and drinks were a delightful complement to the evening's entertainment. The menu offered a variety of options, from light snacks to more substantial meals, all of which were delicious and served promptly. The drink selection was equally impressive, featuring a range of cocktails that were the perfect accompaniment to the night's festivities. In conclusion, my visit to The Houston Improv to see Shawn Wayne was an unforgettable experience. The venue's commitment to providing a top-notch entertainment experience, coupled with Wayne's outstanding performance, made for a perfect evening.

I had such a wonderful time I mean literally laughed the whole time. We ordered the date night platter it was surprisingly more than enough food for 2 which was great, got to take left overs. The waiters were very nice. That punch was so good I wished I remembered the name on the menu. Jeff Shelly, Ben, and some more comedians were such great entertainment.
