The Queen Mary Reviews

If you have never been to see this wonderfully iconic treasure of history, you MUST make it a priority! It is a beautiful time capsule of elegance, grace, romance, true patriotism, and strength. We recently stayed aboard for a few days as part of a convention. We were immediately taken by the welcoming design of a ship and it’s crew that invite you to stay, explore, and experience travel in a time when crossing the Atlantic took a week by ship, rather than hours by plane. When crossing by ocean liner was part of your trip experience rather than just a means to get from one place to another. A time to get to know others, make friends, and build relationships as you shared a common experience together. We did all of these things aboard this wonderful vessel. She is over 80 and going strong! Thank you so much to those who made our stay so enjoyable. It is obvious that you love her. Take care of her. We are already planning our return visit! See you soon!

I. Love. The Queen Mary. She is such a classically beautiful ship. She holds so much history. This is my & my husband's 3rd time visiting her( from the east coast) and I kinda wish we lived closer so we could visit more often. On this visit we have taken 4 tours, and each one was excellent. Shout out to Max who ran our Paranormal tour last night; Tanya who led our Glory Days tour this morning; Ashlee who did our Hollywood tour; and Katerina who led our Steam & Steel tour. We fell in love with the Observation Bar on our first visit (almost 15 years ago). It's such a beautiful space in which to enjoy a beverage. There's great service there, too. Just now we're discovering The Starboard Lounge bar, across from the hotel check-in desk. It's lovely. There's a game room with a table shuffleboard (which we're planning to use tonight), a Foosball table, and a big-screen TV for watching sports. There are several exhibits to check out on board. We checked out the Their Finest Hours exhibit today about Winston Churchill and it's fascinating. Also near the engine room is a nice little exhibit about the S.S. United States. Our next stop is the Cunard Story exhibit. And there is so much to discover. I could say so much about the Queen but never enough. She is just AWESOME! I will also say though, if you are sailing out of Long Beach for a Carnival cruise, this is the perfect hotel to book for the night before. (Or, if you can, a could nights before, so you can explore the Queen a bunch while here.) You can walk to the cruiseport from here. In addition, I love seeing the diversity of the staff. Queen Mary, I love you!

I took my fiance on a Sunday and had an amazing time going through one of the guided tours. One of the unique things we loved about this historical site is that you can explore on your own in most reasonable places. It can take an entire day to see every hallway and nook and cranny. It is great for explorers, history buffs, or those who just want a nice afternoon/ evening sitting on the deck looking out on the harbor. Restaurants are pricey but I believe the promenade Cafe was a little more affordable with to die for clam chowder. And of course you have to come for the ghosts and ghost stories.

Overall, I had a good time. The experience of sleeping in a boat like this is one you cannot find all that often. It is an old boat and because of that you have to expect that not everything is going to be great. The room was nice, though the beds where a bit small and the room lacked electrical outlets. Expect to do a lot of walking. The elevators are slow and small, so the stairs are the most efficient means to get around. it is also a very big boat. The food was pricey and honestly not worth it. Same with the gift shops and bar. The tours are definitely worth it. Our tour guide Tanya was awesome and very knowledgeable about the boat and its history. Overall, a fairly pleasant experience.

Iconic !!! The place even looks more beautiful at night especially from the outside with all the lighting, good for photography. There’s so much history in this ship. If you’re looking for a fancy hotel room, this is not it, but if you’re looking for a convenient stay before or after your cruise, then this is very convenient.
