First Avenue Reviews

First Avenue is obviously one of the most iconic venues in Minnesota to see a live music performance, and maybe one of the most iconic venues in America. Just going for the history reasons alone is enough to go out and check out this place. They are one of the best spots for getting great musical artists to perform. As far as actually seeing live music there, I think First Avenue is pretty good, but not great. It is always way to packed in there. If you don't get there early, its pretty hard to get a good view of the musicians. They have a small upper level, but you'll have to get there early to get a decent spot.

This iconic venue in the heart of Minneapolis, is a must see! Scanning the walls outside the building you can see it’s historical contributions to the music culture of the city. I highly recommend a visit to this legendary venue.

Iconic concert venue doesn't disappoint. New sound system is outstanding. Clear vocals and perfect sounds. Only one thing is missing: a star for Cold War Kids. 😂

Just saw Belle and Sebastian there. Great mid-sized venue at the heart of downtown Minneapolis. Houstonian-approved! 👍🏽

This was a drive by visit, and I took a few pics... would love one day to actually go to a concert at this location. First Avenue is Minneapolis' historic nightclub, made famous by Prince's Purple Rain shot in 1983. First Avenue opened in a former Greyhound Bus terminal in downtown Minneapolis on April 3, 1970. Originally called The Depot, the club brought in prominent national acts. Prince often performed at First Avenue along with other popular artist. Don't forget to see the gold Prince star on the outside of building. Silver stars commemorated key artists who had played at First Avenue. Prince Rogers Nelson died of on April 21, 2016. Its worth a stop if you get a chance to visit Minneapolis.
