Always love coming to the JPT. I have a membership. The people are great, the atmosphere is terrific, and yummy snacks. I have attended comedy shows, live music, and watched movies. Each event was fun. The refreshments support local businesses. I enjoy the different local beers and toffee. The sound quality is great.

Although there is a lot about this theater that is really cool, the seats in the balcony make the worst economy airline you've ever flown on seem luxurious in comparison. I'm 5'2" and felt crammed in; my husband is 5'11" and said he was extremely uncomfortable for the entire show. If you are the least bit claustrophobic or are of near-average human width, avoid the balcony. If you are above-average width, please stay out of the balcony.

Considering the number of films I've seen in my life (many) and the number of years I've lived in RI (also many), I was surprised when I realized tonight that I'd only been in the Jane Pickens Theater once before. That's really a shame as the theater is a great little Newport landmark that deserves some love. Great concessions selection and a wide range of programming definitely makes me want to go back sooner than later.

We love it every time. The staff is so friendly and knowledgeable, the atmosphere always warm and welcoming. And they very often have something extra. Last night for example, when we went to see the lovely Babette's Feast movie during the Foodie Film Festival, they were selling little charcuterie boxes, that with one of their half bottles of wine were guaranteed to put you in the mood. What a great evening we had! Update 1/18/24 - the most important thing though is the selection of movies and shows at JPT - they are arguably the only Art Movie Theater in Rhode Island, the only ones bringing time and again the best movies to a screen near us. We saw last night Anatomy Of a Fall, the winner of last year's Cannes Film Festival, a movie hardly anybody else bothered to show. It will be soon followed by the winner of the last year Venice Film Festival - Poor Things and then the much acclaimed Uncle Vania from National Theatre. Just to name a few, as events like these keep coming.

Always worth checking what's playing at the Jane Pickens Theater. A great mix of blockbuster, Indy, and cult classics.
