Maymont Reviews

The area surrounding the mansion is beautiful! There are scenic trails that have beautiful and historic vegetation. You can find plants from the 1800s and check out the different gardens they have. The trees look healthy and there is plenty to see. A great place to take pictures. They do an amazing job keeping it all clean and ask that you do the same during your visit.

Great place for a family day out. Well-kept gardens, small zoo & farm animal area. Donations accepted but no admission fee. Great walks, or just find a nice spot under an ancient tree. Check their website for special holiday events!

Maymont is a beautiful place to walk around and explore. There are two different gardens to walk through and plenty of open space to observe geese and people watch. I would recommend anyone who visits the area to come here if they like to take long walks and easy hikes. As of March ‘24 the main house is closed for renovations. Also something to note is that they don’t allow pets or bikes anywhere on the grounds.

In March, I’ll give it a 4/5. I’m sure in full spring and summer it is stunning. It’s got a public restroom and huge public parking lot. Many water fountains are not running, and the ponds are drained. Flowers blossomed in the Italian garden. The Japanese garden’s pond awaits maintenance. Great park overall!

Beautiful park in central Richmond. Beautiful grounds, well-kept trails, a petting area for children. A must-see if you're visiting Richmond. In the fall, they have garden light show with beautiful colours.
