Balboa Theatre Concerts 2026-2027

The balboa is a beautiful theater in the heart of Downtown San Diego. There is a decent amount of street parking in the area but we opted for the paid garage parking around the corner. The theater staff helps usher people in through security and into the main areas very quickly. There are bathroom s and concessions on both floors which is convenient. The theater interior is beautiful , with art deco walls and an intricate ceiling. The seats are a little cramped together, but that’s just the style of the theater I guess. A really great gem in SD.

The Balboa Theater is definitely my favorite theater in SD. I adore its atmosphere and design, especially when I last saw "Giselle" with a Mexican influence, which was incredible. However, their occasional missteps were noticeable. Nonetheless, the concept was impressive, and experiencing the story of "Giselle" is always enjoyable. Yet, I found it off-putting when they charged $30 for a Margarita. Although it was tasty, $30 is exceptionally pricey for a drink.

“The Balboa Theater in San Diego is a true gem. This historic venue, beautifully restored, exudes an old-world charm that adds a touch of elegance to any event. The acoustics are excellent, the seating comfortable, and the staff is always friendly and helpful. The theater’s intimate setting ensures there’s not a bad seat in the house, making every performance feel personal and engaging. The Matteo Lane comedy show was an absolute delight. Matteo’s unique blend of humor, storytelling, and musical talent had the audience in stitches from start to finish. His observational humor is sharp and witty, and his ability to connect with the audience is truly remarkable. His jokes are not just funny, they are thought-provoking and often touch on important social issues, making you laugh and think at the same time. Matteo’s musical talent is also a highlight of the show. His incredible vocal range and ability to mimic famous singers add a unique twist to his performance. His comedic renditions of popular songs had the audience laughing and clapping along. The combination of the Balboa Theater’s classic charm and Matteo Lane’s modern, innovative comedy made for a memorable evening. This show is a must-see for anyone who appreciates intelligent, engaging humor and a unique, entertaining performance. Highly recommended!”

Lovely intimate theater in Downtown San Diego, adjacent to Horton Plaza. We came to see Josh Gates LIVE! Perfect venue for this event. Save time and park in the Horton Plaza parking garage. The theater offers validation stickers for that lot. The theater lobby was a tight squeeze accommodating the entry/exit, 2 bars, restroom access, and merchandise stand. Bar prices were what you'd expect for a venue. $$. Great variety though. Restrooms were down a flight of stairs, although I do believe ADA restrooms were accessible via the main floor at a separate entrance.

Balboa Theater is located downtown in San Diego. Street parkings are hard to find but we got lucky and found one directly across from the theater. We came here for the Nutcracker Ballet. This theater has a lot charms with classy personality. There were no bad seats in this theater. Ushers were very efficient and competent. There was a snack bar to fill up with drinks and snacks. No food allowed in the theater. We enjoyed the Nutcracker Ballet show tremendously and liked the intimate venue at the Balboa Theater.
