The museum has been, and continues to be, a family favorite for generations. There is something for every age group to enjoy. The buildings, steamboat, trains, and structures are all very well maintained. The art collection rivals larger metropolitan area museums. The food is always tasty and also affordable. Best of all, the guides and staff are both friendly and informative. It was an extra special treat to see the full solar eclipse from the grounds, along with thousands of others. A great new memory made possible by an old favorite: the Shelburne Museum.

We came for their winter nights light show during the holidays! It was beautiful! Loved seeing their entire museum decorated in beautiful holiday lights. The steamboat was stunning with all the lights. It was nice to walk around and see all the lights. PLEASE add some lights in the parking field for night shows however- it was impossible to find our car in the pitch dark with a fully packed lot. There was no numbers or markings so when we left we were lost in a sea of cars in the pitch dark.

This is well worth the $25 entry fee. We particularly liked that all the buildings were genuine old buildings, dismantled at their original locations and meticulously reconstructed here, to partly represent how an old town might have been. Seeing the architecture of different eras together was interesting. As was the various interior displayed we visited. These ranged from recreations of old stores to collections of artefacts and art from different periods. Including some contemporary work. The old buildings are set out in a spacious landscape of well tended lawns with numerous garden areas and there are informative signs to each one. The old paddle steamer is particularly interesting as you can wander through the engine room, staff quarters below deck, and the luxurious upper decks for the passengers. The little golf cart style vehicles that drive around is a great hop on hop off service to get around the various areas, especially if walking is an issue for you. That's a nice, practical touch. The only small complaint we had was that we discovered our entry fee was valid for two days only as we bought them. If this had been more evident in advance, on the leaflet we found or on the website, we could have given ourselves more time to enjoy the visit.

A friend and I drove 3 hours each way for winter light show. It was amazing. Included a real steamship all decorated, drones, dramatic music, a butterfly garden made of lights. Merry go round and a small cabin with a working model train. Had tomato bisque, hot chocolate, and wine in the Cafe. Very scenic ride on 74 past creeks, eagle lake, General stores. Went over the Ticonderoga bridge.

Great open air museum. Such a beautiful set up and preservation of old buildings and steam boat. The only downside is the running rampant school children and the lack of adult supervision. Even though there were adults there. They did nothing to keep the children orderly. Running up and down the stairs and deck on the beautiful ship is totally unacceptable. I would recommend going after 1pm if you want an enjoyment visit.
