The Muny The Muny

The Muny Reviews

I had an incredible experience taking a behind the scenes tour the Muny outdoor theater in St. Louis with Explore St. Louis! Wow! I can’t imagine managing and directing a show! Going up on stage and seeing the inter-workings of a show was so awesome! Tracy, our guide, was absolutely fantastic. Funny and witty! She had the best energy! St. Louis truly shines. So many cool things to do like this! I have Muny season tickets and I can’t wait for this upcoming 106th season!

I went here for the first time a couple of weeks ago. I got to see Beauty and the Beast. Oh my gosh, such an amazing experience!!! The show was spectacular!!!!! The seats were perfect too! The weather was a little hot, but once dusk hit, it was great. This place does allow small coolers to be brought in, so that dis help stay cool also. I definitely cannot wait to go back and see another show!!!!

Patience - An immense amount of patience is needed to make it through the first gate. By the Time you make it through the second gate to find your seat, Congratulations. You have transcended into a saint! That's without a ticket. I do appreciate St. Louis for its way of keeping its people interested, and loving where they live. Thank you for Beauty and The Beast. What a group of talents! Overall experience was phenomenal. The first time I was at the Muny was back in June of 2003 when I was 18 years old. I had been living in the US a total of 3 years then. The Nuns at St. Elizabeth Academy Convent (where I lived) took me to see Fiddler on the roof. I fell in Love with Literature then. Even though English is a second language of mine, I vowed to learn everything I possibly could so that I could communicate better and be understood. I would go on to marry an American sailor after USS Nebraska two years later. He is an English teacher, a writer, and a world traveler. Thank you St. Louis and places like you for bringing our imagination the food it craves.

The Muny offers an outdoor theater experience like none other that I've seen outside of Disney World. The level of production is top-notch, professional actors, and supreme audio and lighting make for an enjoyable evening in St. Louis. For those hot nights, there are massive fans to cool the audience, but they are shut off during showtime. I LOVE that free seating is offered at The Muny. I've seen such good productions for absolutely nothing my whole life. Free seats are at the back, with the worst view (only because it's so far away from the stage). We paid $20 per ticket for our most recent visit, but the seats were only maybe five rows in front of the free section. The only "downside" to the free seats is that guests must get in line very early to ensure they get a seat. But that can just mean you get to enjoy a picnic in Forest Park (in line). My only complaint is the arrangement the seats are situated. I had to peak around the head of the person in front of me all night long because seats are situated one behind another. Not sure why the architects didn't plan for that and stagger the seating. In addition to all the fun one can have at The Muny, the building itself was created for the 1904 World's Fair. It is absolutely stunning. It's not unpopular for wedding, prom, and senior photos to be taken here. I've seen Annie, Beauty and the Beast, Peter Pan, Newsies, Tarzan, Mary Poppins, Mamma Mia, and so many more productions here and plan to keep attending for years to come.

Beautiful outdoor theater venue with excellent acting and good views. You can pay a lot of money to sit very close to the stage, or get free tickets and sit on the lawn. I love the ability to bring in your own snacks and drinks (no glass, please). Great staff and tech crew. Fans on tall poles help to jeep the air moving. Sound and lighting was very good. Take in some of the beautiful scenery and live music before the show!
