Oxnard Performing Arts Center Corporation (OPAC) Concerts

We attended Candlelight, a live Classical Music Concert @ The Oxnard PAC this evening. It is 65 minutes non stop from one song to the next in one of the small rooms, so an intimate setting, it was something different and very enjoyable. Tonight's performance was a tribute to Taylor Swift

Such a magical night! I highly recommend that you attend one of these concerts. The Music and instruments evoked so many emotions. We had a wonderful time and enjoyed every minute of it!

Wish I could leave a zero. Awful experience. Had front row seats in right pit. About 15 minutes before the show, our entire section was jammed with people from other seats. Security was a joke. 1 guy on each end next to the pit looking at their phone or just standing there with folded arms. The venue was at best 1/4 filled, so it wasn't like there was a massive crowd to deal with. It got so crowded in the pit because everyone was leaving their seats and coming forward. It started to get confrontational. About 20 minutes into the headliners set, we went back 15 rows and watched the show. Whomever runs this place, if you are going to have pit seats, then have your Security clear the aisles every 10 minutes to get people back to their seats. This is how professional venues operate to respect the ticketholders. But not this place, no need to pay for a front row seat. If you ever have the misfortune of going to this place, buy tix in the back row and help yourself to any seat in the place. Have been going to shows for over 40 years and this place was one of the worst ever. I want my money back!!!! Update: Emails from venue management letting me know that I wouldn't get a refund because "I had a good time" moving from our seats 15 rows back and watching the rest of the event. Never mind the verbal abuse from non pit ticket holders and being crowded out of my seats. No mention of the lack of security at the entrance to the pit, no checking tickets and no clearing the aisles. Like I said, buy a back row seat and help yourself.

This place has so much potential to be something really big for the city of Oxnard. It has multiple rooms that can host multiple events. I myself visited to watch the Nutcracker, while there I learned of so many great events that are hosted on a regular basis along with upcoming shows. The property is huge, however the building architecture is outdated. The city of Oxnard would benefit greatly by giving this area the funding needed to bring this place back to life. So many great resources & shows can be hosted here for the community to benefit from. The park behind it does it no justice, it’s full of bums and literally has no kids or families that attend it. I would give it 3 stars but the show I attended earned it an extra star. City of Oxnard put some money in the whole city, not just the newly built neighborhoods & beach areas.

I had the pleasure of visiting OPAC recently. An older venue that retains character and it's necessity. Many artists touring and local frequently perform there. Events and services take place on a weekly basis. .The friendly staff are eager to make every show a big show.
