In the heart of NW DC, where the metro stops its race, A mural spreads its vibrant hues, a smile upon its face. By thirteenth street, life swirls in a cheerfully bright parade, Where colors dance and spirits lift in light and shade's cascade. But tread toward tenth, and find a scene less kindly to the eye, Where crowds, in less than joyful moods, beneath the same sky sigh. A juxtaposition stark, between the vibrant and the grey, This metro stop, a stage where different tales are in the play.

As of October 2018 the 10th street exit is blocked and under construction. If you are coming on the yellow line, only fort trotten will get you up here - otherwise at mt Vernon you need to get off and wait for green belt to come through and it will take you up here. There are quite a few homeless people around this exit.

Escalator closure is stupid. They couldn't have done it in sections instead of closing the whole entrance. Metro continues to pick the worst possible way to do everything

The U Street Metro stop is great -- very proximate to the hot spots on U Street, usually not too busy, regular trains.

2 entrance station. There can be riff raff in the station and at the top of the escalator on the 13th street side. Watch your surroundings.
