The Playhouse on Rodney Square Reviews

Saw the Nutcracker here and it was great. Seats are small, but still a great time. Valet is available, bathrooms were clean and all the staff were friendly and helpful.

Went and saw Little Women today, they were absolutely brilliant. We LOVED the musical and the cast was phenomenal. My rating is for the playhouse itself. Its like stuffing sardines in a can, it is so small and cluttered, they stuff way too many people in the small space. The bathrooms were an absolute wreck with no one even attempting to keep them clean. The seats aren't properly angled like most theaters, I had to continuously duck and weave to see around the people in front of me. If it wasn't for the amazing performance my anniversary would have been completely ruined by the experience. Even trying to get a bottle of water was impossible because they aren't set up for it and neither my or my hsubands bottle was actually sealed. We loved seeing the show and that we were able to catch an actual Broadway show without going there, but I will never go again if it is at the playhouse. The wilmington Opera house wasn't even being utilized, I can't fathom why the production wasn't done there. Extremely disappointed.

This is a nice theatre. The staff was very helpful. There is plenty of on-street parking. Expect a long line when getting seated. The line is well managed and moves quickly. The theatre has good acoustics. There are plenty of good seats with excellent views of the stage. The seats that say they're obstructed views are in fact obstructed.

We have visited The Playhouse many times. It's a beautiful venue to see great theater . This time we saw Come From Away. A wonderful musical that captures such the tragic days post 9/11 with humanity and care. Well done!

Very nice theater and the Annie production we saw was wonderful. However they need to realize people won't pay NYC Broadway ticket prices for a show in Wilmington. We selected from the very few available reasonably priced seats. About half the theater was empty for a prime-time Saturday evening show because most seats were overpriced. The Playhouse and The Grand should realize it's better to fill reasonably priced seats than leave overpriced seats empty. Parking info provided was also somewhat confusing and could be improved.
