Formed in Dun Laoghaire near Dublin in 1975, Irish rock band the Boomtown Rats mixed punk and new wave. They scored multiple U.K. hits, including the No. 1 singles Rat Trap and I Don't Like Mondays, and released Citizens of Boomtown (2020).
