Cuban guitarist Compay Segundo (born 1907) collaborated with Sindo Garay, Miguel Matamoros and Benny Moré, and in the late ’20s invented the armónico. He gained worldwide attention in 1998 via Ry Cooder’s Buena Vista Social Club, releasing Calle Salud (1999).
