Italian pop singer Al Bano (Albano Carrisi), born in Cellino San Marco, broke through in 1966 at Festival delle Rose. He scored hits with "La Siepe" and "Nel Sole," and later formed a long-running duo with Romina Power, debuting on Storia di Due Innamorati.
