Verdi's Rigoletto, a tragic Italian opera, premiered in Venice in 1851. Based on Victor Hugo's play, it's a Romantic-era masterpiece known for its intense drama and powerful music. Famous for arias like "La donna è mobile" and "Caro nome," it explores themes of love, betrayal, and revenge through the jester Rigoletto, his daughter Gilda, and the Duke of Mantua. It remains a staple of the operatic repertoire.
