The GRAMMY Museum is thrilled to welcome Benson Boone to the Museum’s 300-seat Ray Charles Rooftop Terrace for an evening of conversation celebrating his rising career, latest project, Fireworks & Rollerblades, and more, with a performance to follow. Attendees will also have an opportunity to enjoy rooftop views and a cash bar prior to the program.
For Benson Boone, Fireworks & Rollerblades contains numerous meanings. Not only does the title of his debut album come from one of his favorite lyrics on the record, but it also captures the 22-year-old’s meteoric rise.
“The last two years of my life, after writing music and releasing music, have happened so fast, and it's so unexpected for me,” Boone says. “I never really thought this would be what my life would look like two years ago. It’s taken off really fast, and it just reminds me of fireworks tied to rollerblades, like a rocket ship taking off.”
Boone grew up in Monroe, Washington, where his parents would play the “Hooked on a Feeling” Pandora station at family dinners, introducing him to artists like Billy Joel, Aretha Franklin and Earth, Wind & Fire. As he would get older, he would be drawn to big-voiced modern artists like Adele and Sam Smith.
Since signing to Warner Records in 2021, Boone has released two EPs and his debut album, Fireworks & Rollerblades, which includes his breakout global smash “Beautiful Things.” The track has become a #1 hit around the globe, peaking at #2 on the Billboard Hot 100 and spending seven weeks at #1 on the Billboard Global 200 chart.
Over half the songs on the album were written with songwriter Jack LaFrantz, who has become one of Boone’s best friends. Producers Jason Evigan, Evan Blair, Jason Suwito, Captain Cuts and Malay were also part of the process in creating this powerful set of music that captures Boone’s astute pop ear and penchant for an in-your-face sonic gut-punch.
“I’m more proud of these songs than anything else,” says Boone, who just wrapped his sold-out global headline tour and opened for Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour in London at Wembley Stadium this past weekend.
