Birmingham, England street punk band formed in 1978. Also known as Charged G.B.H., they helped revive U.K. punk and fused in heavy metal. Key releases include Leather, Bristles, Studs, and Acne and City Baby Attacked by Rats. Influenced Metallica and Rancid.

Subhumans

U.K. anarchist punk collective Subhumans formed near Trowbridge, Wiltshire in 1980. Known for literate, musically athletic punk, they released five albums on their Bluurg label including The Day the Country Died, later reuniting in 1998.

Discharge

Formed in the late 1970s, UK punk band Discharge pioneered the “D-Beat” sound. Their 1982 debut LP Hear Nothing See Nothing Say Nothing hit the UK charts. Songs have been covered by Metallica, Anthrax and Sepultura. Signed to Nuclear Blast in 2016.

Conflict

British anarcho-punk band Conflict, formed in South London (1981), is known for intense, aggressive punk against war and for animal rights. Celebrated for songs like "The Serenade is Dead," they began with Crass' support, running their label, Mortarhate Records.
