Dirty Old Town is a celebrated 1949 folk song written by Ewan MacColl about the industrial city of Salford, England. Originally composed as an interlude for his play Landscape with Chimneys, the track became a standard of the folk revival and gained widespread international fame through prominent recordings by the Dubliners and the Pogues.
