The Untouchables, a pioneering West Coast ska band, debuted in 1984 with "Live & Let Dance." Known for blending R&B covers with reggae rhythms, they recorded "Wild Child" in 1985 and "Agent Double O Soul" in 1989. The group featured Chuck Askerneese and Clyde Grimes among others and released their final live album, "Decade of Dance," in 1990.
Berlin gained fame in the 1980s with hits like "No More Words" and "Take My Breath Away," featuring Terri Nunn and John Crawford. Originating from Orange County, they blended synth-pop with Kraftwerk influences. Notable albums include "Pleasure Victim" and "Love Life," with the Oscar-winning single "Take My Breath Away" from Top Gun. Berlin reunited in 2019 with Nunn, Crawford, and Dave Diamond, releasing "Transcendance."
Madness, formed in 1978, blend ska with British pop and are renowned for hits like "Our House" and "It Must Be Love." Their debut, "One Step Beyond," was a 2-Tone ska era classic. Known for their humorous style and engaging performances, the band had numerous Top Ten UK hits throughout the '80s. They collaborated with producers Clive Langer and Alan Winstanley and key members included Suggs, Mike Barson, and Lee Thompson. They played the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and the 2012 London Olympics, and launched hits like 2009's The Liberty of Norton Folgate.
