Hugh Cornwell, born in England, was the frontman of The Stranglers, known for hits like "Golden Brown." A key punk influence, his solo work includes sharp social commentary.
Magnum, formed in 1972 Birmingham by Tony Clarkin and Bob Catley, is known for melodic hard rock hits like "Chase the Dragon." They achieved UK Top Ten success with "Wings of Heaven" in 1988. Notable collaborators include Roger Taylor of Queen. Despite disbanding in 1995, they reunited in 2001 and enjoyed European success with albums like "Lost on the Road to Eternity" and "The Monster Roars." Longtime bassist Al Barrow was succeeded by Dennis Ward in 2020.
