He is considered one of Western music's greatest composers.
Gustav Mahler, born in Bohemia, was an Austro-Bohemian Romantic composer and conductor. He crafted expansive, deeply expressive symphonies and song cycles, bridging 19th-century Romanticism with 20th-century modernism. Known for innovative orchestration and emotional depth, his celebrated works include Symphony No. 2 "Resurrection" and Symphony No. 8 "Symphony of a Thousand".
An acclaimed Italian conductor who serves as the music director of the National Symphony Orchestra in Washington, D.C. and the General Music Director of Zurich Opera, widely recognized for his artistry in both the concert hall and opera house.
