Spearhead, later known as Michael Franti & Spearhead, is an American alternative rock band formed in San Francisco, California, in 1994 by singer-songwriter, rapper, and activist Michael Franti. Known for their politically charged, socially conscious lyrics and positive energy, the group blends hip-hop with reggae, funk, folk, soul, and rock. They debuted with the critically acclaimed 1994 album Home and later achieved widespread commercial success with their double-platinum 2008 single "Say Hey (I Love You)" from the album All Rebel Rockers, followed by chart-topping releases like The Sound of Sunshine and Big Big Love.
