9 grader nord is a Tamil folk rock band from Bergen, Norway, known for dynamic shows and a unique sound blending Carnatic, baila, and Tamil music. Formed in 2017, they've played numerous festivals and appeared on TV. The band collaborates with the Norwegian Broadcasting Orchestra and explores school tours across Norway. Their debut album, JAFFNA, won a top composer award in 2019, celebrating Tamil heritage through music and traditional attire. Sisters Mira and Dipha, whose parents fled Sri Lanka, are dedicated to preserving their cultural roots.
