Derek Ryan Smith, known as Mod Sun, is a Minnesota-born multi-instrumentalist, singer, and songwriter. He transitioned from pop-punk and post-hardcore to "hippie hop" and later embraced a pop-punk sound on albums like "Internet Killed The Rockstar" and "God Save the Teen." Known for personal lyrics, he has collaborated with artists such as Avril Lavigne and Machine Gun Kelly. He co-wrote the VMA-winning "Bloody Valentine."
