Nas, born Nasir Jones in Queensbridge, NYC, emerged with his classic debut Illmatic (1994), showcasing influential rap rooted in personal experiences and lyrical prowess. Known for a masterful flow and collaborations with DJ Premier, Kanye West, and Hit-Boy, he has released acclaimed works like Hip Hop Is Dead, Life Is Good, and King's Disease, the latter winning a Grammy. His discography, noted for evolving themes and collaborations with legends like Lauryn Hill, Jay-Z, and Damian Marley, solidifies his status in hip-hop history. Nas remains a pivotal voice, with his work on the Mass Appeal label expanding his influence.
Banker Henry Lee Higginson founded the Boston Symphony Orchestra in 1881 and the Boston Pops, known for lighter, popular concerts. Arthur Fiedler led Pops for 50 years, making it a hit with RCA. John Williams and Keith Lockhart later followed, keeping the Pops a beloved American tradition.
