Ohio Players with Midnight Star and Ohio State Fair

Dayton, Ohio funk band formed in 1959, known for horn-driven grooves and provocative LP covers. Scored five gold/platinum ’70s albums (Skin Tight, Fire, Honey) and R&B hits like “Funky Worm,” “Fire” and “Love Rollercoaster.”

Formed at Kentucky State University in 1976, technofunk/R&B group Midnight Star broke through with double-platinum No Parking on the Dance Floor (1983) and hits like Freak-A-Zoid, Operator, Midas Touch and Don’t Rock the Boat.

The Ohio State Fair is an annual state fair held in Columbus, Ohio at the Ohio Expo Center and State Fairgrounds. Established in 1850, it is one of the largest state fairs in the United States, celebrating Ohio's products, people, and agricultural achievements. Initially a nomadic event that traveled to various cities across Ohio during its first 24 years, the fair permanently settled in Columbus in 1874 and moved to its current location in 1886. Today, the 12-day exposition features agricultural competitions, livestock exhibitions, a popular butter cow sculpture, a fine arts show, rides, and a concert series that attracts nearly one million visitors annually.
