LineUp

Founded in 1896, the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra has been led by prominent conductors such as Victor Herbert, Fritz Reiner, and Manfred Honeck. The Grammy-nominated ensemble launched widespread radio broadcasts in 1936 and amassed a large recording catalog.
Ludwig van Beethoven, a German composer and pianist from Bonn, bridged the Classical and Romantic eras with his innovative, emotionally intense music. Renowned for works like the "Moonlight Sonata," Fifth Symphony, and Ninth Symphony, he revolutionized instrumental music, elevating it to high art. He continued composing despite profound deafness.
Dmitri Shostakovich (1906-1975), a Russian composer from St. Petersburg, is celebrated for his 15 symphonies and chamber music. His classical style features sharp contrasts, grotesque elements, and deep emotional intensity. Renowned works include Symphony No. 5 and the "Leningrad" Symphony. He navigated a complex relationship with the Soviet regime, establishing a powerful legacy as a 20th-century master.
Karina Canellakis is an in-demand conductor known for emotionally charged performances, technical command, and interpretive depth. She is Chief Conductor of the Netherlands Radio Philharmonic Orchestra and Principal Guest Conductor of the London Philharmonic Orchestra and RSB.
