Born in the Soviet Union, Regina Spektor moved to NYC in 1989, continued her classical piano training, and studied composition at SUNY Purchase. Known for jazz and blues-influenced pop, her breakthrough came with the gold-certified "Begin to Hope" in 2006, featuring hits like "Fidelity." Albums "Far" and "What We Saw From the Cheap Seats" both debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200. Spektor's music appears in shows like "Orange Is The New Black" and films like "(500) Days of Summer." She performed for the Obamas and supports various charities.
Aimee Mann, born in Richmond, Virginia, rose to fame leading 'Til Tuesday with 1985 hit "Voices Carry." Known for folk-tinged adult alternative pop, she's acclaimed for solo work, the Oscar-nominated "Save Me" from Magnolia, and collaborations with Elvis Costello and Ted Leo.
