Richard Ashcroft

Richard Ashcroft, born in Billinge, Wigan, fronted Britain’s the Verve, leading them to multi-platinum 1997 album Urban Hymns with hits like “Bitter Sweet Symphony.” He won Ivor Novello Songwriter of the Year (1998) and later Outstanding Contribution (2019).
