Formed in 1993 by Shaun Ryder and Bez after Happy Mondays, Black Grape mix psychedelic dance-rock with hip-hop via rapper Kermit. Debut album It's Great When You're Straight...Yeah hit UK No. 1 (1995), with Top Ten singles "Reverend Black Grape" and "Fat Neck."

Richard Ashcroft

Richard Ashcroft, born in Billinge, Wigan, fronted Britain’s the Verve, leading them to multi-platinum 1997 album Urban Hymns with hits like “Bitter Sweet Symphony.” He won Ivor Novello Songwriter of the Year (1998) and later Outstanding Contribution (2019).
