LineUp

Igor Stravinsky's "The Rite of Spring," a groundbreaking 1913 ballet and orchestral work, originated in Paris. A landmark of musical Modernism, it is known for its brutal rhythms, dissonance, and Russian folk influences. Created with Sergei Diaghilev, Nicholas Roerich, and Vaslav Nijinsky, its premiere caused a historic sensation. It profoundly shaped 20th-century music.
Formed in 1881 and supported by Henry Lee Higginson, the Boston Symphony Orchestra is a prominent U.S. ensemble based at Symphony Hall. Led by renowned conductors including Serge Koussevitsky and Andris Nelsons, the group boasts an extensive recording catalog and founded the Tanglewood Music Festival.
Igor Stravinsky, the Russian-born titan of 20th-century music, revolutionized classical sound with his bold rhythms and innovative harmonies. His iconic ballets "The Firebird," "Petrushka," and the riot-inducing "The Rite of Spring," created for Diaghilev's Ballets Russes, remain cornerstones of modernism. He also explored neoclassicism and serialism.
Grammy Award-winning conductor Andris Nelsons serves as Music Director of the Boston Symphony Orchestra and Gewandhauskapellmeister of the Gewandhausorchester Leipzig. An exclusive Deutsche Grammophon artist, he has earned multiple Grammy Awards for his Shostakovich recordings.
