Founded in 1940, Utah Symphony is a major American orchestra known for distinctive performances and recordings. Led by Thierry Fischer since 2009, it plays 175 concerts annually, boasting a legacy of international tours, award-winning recordings, and educational initiatives. Home to the Deer Valley® Music Festival.
Composer & conductor Teddy Abrams, born in Berkeley, became the youngest major American symphony leader in 2014 with the Louisville Orchestra. Known for collaborations with folk & bluegrass artists and premieres of his works, including "Muhammad Ali Portrait." Also performed in NPR's Tiny Desk Concert.
