Albert Griffiths, born in St. Elizabeth, Jamaica, led the Gladiators in defining roots reggae for over 30 years. Known for tracks like "Hello Carol" and albums such as Trenchtown Mix Up, the band collaborated with icons like Lee "Scratch" Perry and Eddy Grant. Despite lineup changes, Griffiths' biblical lyrics and the Gladiators' unique sound persisted, influencing reggae globally. He later passed the torch to his sons with the 2005 album Father and Sons.
