The Drifters, formed in New York City in 1953, are an iconic American vocal group. Pioneers of R&B, soul, and doo-wop, they are celebrated for their smooth harmonies and enduring hits like "Under the Boardwalk," "Save the Last Dance for Me," and "Up on the Roof." Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, their sound bridges 1950s rhythm & blues with 1960s soul.
