London-born Peter Asher was half of 1960s hit duo Peter & Gordon, scoring the 1964 Lennon-McCartney song "World Without Love." After the duo split, he became Apple Records A&R, signing and producing James Taylor, then produced albums for Linda Ronstadt and Cher.
