The Spinners with Evelyn "Champagne" King and Rose Royce

Formed in Detroit in 1954, R&B group The Spinners defined Philadelphia Soul after signing with Atlantic Records in 1972. They topped pop and R&B charts with hits like I'll Be Around and The Rubberband Man, earning six Grammy nominations and a Hollywood Walk of Fame star.

Los Angeles-based group Rose Royce began as Edwin Starr's backup band before signing with producer Norman Whitfield. They achieved massive national recognition with their 1976 hit soundtrack for the film Car Wash, which featured chart-topping singles like Car Wash, I Wanna Get Next to You, and I'm Going Down. They followed up with hit albums In Full Bloom and Strikes Again, generating numerous R&B and pop hits, and became popular concert attractions in England.

Evelyn “Champagne” King is a Philadelphia singer best known for disco and R&B hits “Shame” (1977), “I’m in Love” (1981) and “Love Come Down” (1982). Her debut LP Smooth Talk was gold, and “The Dance” (2008) extended her Billboard dance chart run across three decades.
