Tom McDermott "Rags & Choros"

Tom McDermott, born in St. Louis, Missouri, is a pianist and composer celebrated for his mastery of New Orleans musical traditions. He began piano lessons at the age of six and became a professional musician by sixteen. After earning a Master of Music degree from Washington University in St. Louis, McDermott moved to New Orleans in 1984, drawn by his passion for the city’s rich musical heritage.

His style encompasses a wide range of genres, including traditional jazz, ragtime, and New Orleans R&B, influenced by legends like James Booker, Dr. John, and Professor Longhair. McDermott's versatility is evident in his extensive discography, which includes nearly twenty full-length albums covering various musical styles.

He was a member of the Dukes of Dixieland in the 1990s and co-founded the innovative brass band, the New Orleans Nightcrawlers, in 1994, contributing to the evolution of the city’s brass band scene. Beyond his musical endeavors, McDermott is also a journalist and author, known for his writings on music and travel. His contributions have solidified his status as a prominent figure in New Orleans' vibrant artistic community.

Shows at 7:30 pm & 9:30 pm. Doors at 7:00 pm & 9:00 pm. Restaurant is Open 5 pm - 10 pm for dinner before or after your showtime:

  • Dinner Service without Advance Concert Tickets is first-come, first-served based on availability upon arrival.

Full Bar is Open 5 pm - Midnight for all, on show nights, with or without tickets. Kind Reminder: Snug Harbor does NOT serve the full menu inside the Music Room. We do offer cheese and charcuterie tray options. In order to preserve the integrity, quiet, and focus of our world-class intimate concerts, only the charcuterie, cocktails, and soft drinks are available for table service inside the Music Room.

However, we encourage you to arrive at least 90 minutes prior to your showtime in order to enjoy full, relaxing dinner service in the Dining Room right next door, before getting seated in the Music Room for your ticketed showtime. Due to our intimate venue's limited seating capacity, advance tickets are strongly suggested to guarantee seats for this acclaimed show!

Age Restrictions and Policies

This event is 13 and over. Any ticket holder unable to present valid identification indicating that they are at least 13 years of age will not be admitted to this event and will not be eligible for a refund. All concert ticket sales are final and non-refundable. All patrons must have valid government-issued Photo ID available upon entry.

All teenage patrons must be ticketed like adults and must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times while inside the jazz club. All patrons must be aged 13 or older. Sorry, no children under 13 are permitted. Snug Harbor Jazz Bistro has a STRICT No Cell Phones, No Cameras Policy at all times during all showtimes inside the music room. Violation of this policy while inside the venue may result in removal from the club without ticket refunds.

There is NO SMOKING allowed anywhere inside the building, and there are NO PETS ALLOWED at any time. Legitimate Service Dogs must be wearing full credentials at all times upon entry, and the owner must have licensing papers available upon staff request for service dogs. Sorry, no emotional support pets are allowed inside at any time. Please see the Refund Policy section for details on exceptions for Ticket Transfers. Thank You.
