LineUp

Claude Debussy (1862-1918) was a French composer, a pivotal figure in musical Impressionism. Born in Saint-Germain-en-Laye, he revolutionized classical music with evocative harmonies and unique structures. His renowned works include "Clair de lune," "Prélude à l'après-midi d'un faune," and "La mer." He won the Prix de Rome, leaving an enduring legacy on 20th-century music.
Born on Long Island, Eric Jacobsen is an American conductor and cellist, hailed as an "interpretive dynamo" for his fresh, collaborative classical music. He co-founded The Knights chamber orchestra and Brooklyn Rider string quartet, also performing with Yo-Yo Ma's Silkroad. Jacobsen leads acclaimed recordings, including "Azul" with Yo-Yo Ma.
The Detroit Symphony Orchestra gave its first concert in December 1887. Despite financial crises and periods of disbandment, the orchestra achieved international renown under conductors like Ossip Gabrilowitsch, Paul Paray, Neeme Järvi, and Leonard Slatkin, performing historic radio broadcasts, releasing award-winning recordings, and returning to its restored Orchestra Hall.
