Took a while to get service, but once our order got taken the food came out quickly and was good. They were having a problem with the tickets at the door and a new ticketing system. They wanted me to show an email I didn't get and we had to talk for five minutes before they would agree to sit me without my whole party... a few of them were parking. The people behind me in line had a similar issue. But it all worked out and the show was good.

The venue is nice but there are a lot of seats packed in there. The seating is alphabetized. If you are a party of two and you pick seats A and D at a table you will be sitting across from each other as if out to dinner. If you pick seats A and B then you are sitting directly next to each other. You will have to turn your seats towards the stage or else you will leave with a crick in your neck. We ordered the hummus which was tasty. They had mocktails on the menu but when I attempted to order one they said they didn't have any of them available🙄. It got a bit hot inside with the amount of people in attendance. The event was sold out. They did put on the air conditioning.

City Winery Boston is an intimate venue with great sight-lines to the stage. Acoustics are also very good. Table set up (other than high tops) is “tight” with roughly 12-18” between the shoulders of seated guests at different tables. So, I stress INTIMATE. While there is an opening ask before the show to keep talk at the table to a minimum unfortunately that is not respected by all. It’s not uncommon to hear competing loud talking in one ear and the performer in the other. Some folks don’t get that we aren’t at a big venues. Venue personnel do not pay enough attention to this behavior. I wish they would and keep those folks quiet. Sing and dance for sure - but talking a the table? I wish they would help enforce the ask they make. I bet they would if people started using flash photography on their phones. City Winery is essentially leaving it to those who are actually trying to enjoy the show.

Generally good sound quality throughout venue, but sometimes singers aren't mic'd loudly enough. Food pricey but not obnoxiously so; drinks fairly priced. Very, very, very tight seating. And tighter when waitstaff tries to pass you. Best of you can sit with back to the wall.

We went to City Winery last night for the Dave Barnes concert. It's a great location. Easy to get to from the T (we never drive into Boston). The venue is intimate, maybe too intimate. Based on the layout on the website, I definitely wasn't expecting the tables to be so close, or small. Luckily, the people we were sitting with were nice and easy to be close to for 2.5 hours. We only got dessert for food to eat so I can't say much about their plates to share. They looked like they were good portions from the people around us. Only other negative was the chairs. Because we were so close to other people, it wasn't easy to get up from the table so I ended up in my chair the entire time. If the chairs had ample padding, it would have been fine but these were trendy wooden chairs with a thin pad. It definitely became uncomfortable about halfway through. The music was probably the best part. I'm a long time Dave Barnes fan and this was the first time I was able to see him in concert. I'm excited for the next time he comes to Boston. Hopefully City Winery gets better chairs before the next time.
