Orpheum Theatre Reviews

John Batiste is so very talented. He puts on a great show. The seats are so very close together. I'm 5'4" and my knees were touching the seat in front and getting squished when the person in front sat.... time to update

The staff is fantastic. The venue is wonderful. The building, however, is eerily cold, freezing cold, and needs a lot of upkeep. With the amount of events that happen here, there must be money for paint and spackle... It's too bad this beautiful place is not well maintained...

Joe Satriani and Steve Vai put on a great powerful show! The acoustics are far better than most venues! The view seems great from most seats. Just wish there was a little more seating/foot room.

The theater itself is lovely. It is a historic gem. Old wood and frescoes, this is a step back in time. Acoustics are ok (we saw Belle and Sebastian). The real issue with the theater is accessibility. Stairs. Lots of stairs. If there was an elevator I did not see it clearly marked. Several people with disabilities were struggling (no handrails in balcony). Seats are small and tight with very little legroom. There is no place to put a coat or a purse (unless you sit on the coat and put the purse on your foot or lap. I think people wanted to stand and dance but it was so cramped. Restrooms are good, but, once again, if there were accessible stalls, their location was not clearly marked. Ushers were helpful. Concession folks were ambivalent. Security was good. Earplugs were available, but because the acoustics are just OK, you save your ears but lose some sound (not an issue at other venues).

I love the Orpheum! It's a beautiful 150+ year old theater! The room sounds great, and the seating isn't barbaric. Granite? perhaps Marble? Both? I've always gone to see music, so I haven't always had the time to take in all of the architecture. Besides all the greatness; I really wish they would open a full bar and provide some more food as well as food options. Last Friday, my fiancée and I got the last "soft pretzel. " And this was early in the night... $7 +tax... The drink prices are just as absurd. I do love this venue! Just make sure you pregame and eat a snack on the way in!
