Wonderful historic Detroit music venue! Nice handicapped seating in a couple of different locations, at the back of the main floor or up near the front at the side of the stage. We had row J for Richard Marx and the view was perfect! Great acoustics too. The elevator is more of a wheelchair lift and you do need an attendant to let you on and off, but it worked just fine. Lot parking is available very close by, just across the street, so it's easy to get in and out without having to fuss with a parking garage. Multiple bars so the lines for a drink aren't too bad! Looking forward to next time!

We were here to see Super Freak, the play based on Rick James life. It was sooooooo good. Do yourself a favor and see it when it comes to your city. I drove from Cleveland, OH, to see it. My husband is a fan. There is a very small Cafe type place inside where you can sit and have a small bite to eat if you want. There is a bar on each level of sitting. Very convenient! From what I gather, this place is legendary. A lot of people got their start here. People will be people. The show started promptly at 8pm but people kept coming in super late. Lights were down so the ushers were getting frustrated with them. Mostly because the customers were frustrated. They were late tho! All in all, great show. I'd definitely come back! Stokely was awesome as adult prime time Rick James. The lady playing the mother can SANG! Baaaaaaaby, she has the voice! And Tina Marie actress...showed all the way out.

I have seen many plays, performances, concerts, etc. over the decades at the Music Hall. Most recently, I had an opportunity to attend Je'caryous Johnson's portrayal of Rick James' story. I enjoyed it immensely and would highly recommend fellow Detroiters to get out and see the production. You will not be disappointed if you are a fan of Rick, a fan of music, or a historical buff!

Actually this was inside of the Music Hall… Arethas Jazz Cafe. The venue itself was a nice cozy spot but way too many tables were crammed in the space. Tickets sold were far more than the space permitted. Too crowded to hear well and it was a disservice to the performers because the sound engineers often had the sounds uneven and screeching microphones. The staff were attentive and gave as good a service as they could amongst the sardine packed crowd. The acts were varied and many… they needed better sound engineers.

It has a little age on it, but that’s just history talking… It’s a nice, quaint place that makes you feel close to the artists. Service was fast, friendly, and efficient. Awesome location, just down the street from Comerica Park, Ford Field and the Hilton Garden Inn. Plenty of good places within walking distance to eat and drink. I shall return!
