Koussevitzky Music Shed Concerts

Tanglewood has beautiful grounds and this wonderful facility for listening to music. The Saturday morning Family concerts are a great way to introduce children of all ages to live musical performances.

A cultural mecca for those seeking scenic views while attending performances by the greatest classical musicians the world over. Built for a singular purpose on the grounds of a Lenox, MA estate that feels like a world in and unto itself. Spend an entire day in the sprawling lawns before the show and then enjoy the twinkling of fireflies, candelabras, a glass of wine or a pint of beer as the Boston Symphony Orchestra takes your breath away under a star filled summer night sky.

Tanglewood is so beautiful and the Boston Symphony Orchestra is incredible! The Shed has a dirt floor and small wooden auditorium seats. There was a very thick lady sitting aways from us and she couldn't hardly sit in the seat and had to sit at the very end because the arms of the chair were digging into her back. 😢 If you're thin you should be fine. The shed has great acoustics and there's a great view of the orchestra whereever you sit, especially now that there is half capacity seating due to COVID-19. I recommend to come early and walk around the grounds before you sit down, because the views and the gardens are gorgeous! Go and observe Aaron Copland's grave too, but be respectful. I noticed everyone was very quiet and reverent in that area of Tanglewood.

First trip to Tanglewood last night and it was unbelievable. The Koussevitzky Music Shed was an incredible sight. The weather was so so, but it didn't stop the BSO from an incredible performance. Seeing a show is definitely something I would recommend to anyone. If you're not in the immediate area, it's still worth the trip.
