Marcy Playground, formed in NYC by Minneapolis natives John Wozniak and Dylan Keefe with Ohio's Dan Rieser, rose to fame with "Sex and Candy." Known for their tranquil rock sound, their debut album went platinum. Collaborated with jazz guitarist Kurt Rosenwinkel.
The Cactus Blossoms, formed by brothers Jack Torrey and Page Burkum, are known for their distinctive harmony duo style. Their music, enriched by collaborations with Jeremy Hanson, Jacob Hanson, and Phillip Hicks, blends emotive themes like loss and moving on, as evident in their album "Every Time I Think About You" featuring tracks like “There She Goes."
Waukesha, Wisconsin's BoDeans are a roots rock, heartland, and alternative rock band, celebrated for tight harmonies, guitar-driven sound, and energetic live performances. Named Rolling Stone's "Best New American Band" in 1987, their hits include "Closer to Free" (Party of Five theme) and "Fadeaway". Albums like "4 The Last Time" showcase their enduring style. They have supported U2 and Bob Dylan, and are recognized in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's Midwest Artists exhibit.
Alt-country band Gear Daddies, from Austin, Minnesota, formed in 1984. Known for singles like "Zamboni," they gained fame in Minneapolis's indie scene. Signed with Polydor, appeared on Letterman, disbanded in 1992. Reunions from 2010.
