Founded in 1881, the Boston Symphony Orchestra, supported by banker Henry Lee Higginson, is a pillar of U.S. orchestral culture. Its legendary recordings, especially on RCA Victor, benefit from Boston's Symphony Hall acoustics. Born in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, Yefim Bronfman is a pianist acclaimed for his modern Russian repertory and recordings of all Prokofiev and Shostakovich piano works. Grammy winner, Avery Fisher Prize recipient, notable collaborations include Emanuel Ax and Esa-Pekka Salonen.
