Founded in 1881, the Boston Symphony Orchestra, supported by banker Henry Lee Higginson, is a pillar of U.S. orchestral culture. Its legendary recordings, especially on RCA Victor, benefit from Boston's Symphony Hall acoustics. Known for premieres of works by Stravinsky and Bartók, it has been led by conductors Monteux, Koussevitsky, and Ozawa. It also has ties with Tanglewood Music Festival and contributed to film scores like Spielberg's "Schindler's List" and "Saving Private Ryan" with John Williams.
Italian-born, American violinist Augustin Hadelich masters a diverse repertoire, from Adès to Paganini. Grammy winner & praised globally, he has collaborated with top orchestras worldwide. Known for exceptional technique and soulfulness, plays the Guarneri "Leduc, ex-Szeryng" violin.
Founded in 1914 by society women in Detroit, the Detroit Symphony Orchestra overcame many crises. Known for radio broadcasts and high-quality French music under Paul Paray, it faced severe financial issues before rejuvenation in the restored Orchestra Hall under Neeme Järvi and then Leonard Slatkin, continuing its tradition of excellence and innovation.
Born in Seoul, pianist Seong-Jin Cho won the 17th Chopin Competition (2015), and the Hamamatsu (2009). Studied in Paris. Known for emotional depth, his albums topped charts and secured global acclaim.
