The Originals

The Originals, led by Detroit native Freddie Gorman, are known for hits like "Baby I'm for Real." They collaborated with Marvin Gaye, topping R&B charts. Initially a postal worker, Gorman contributed to "Please Mr. Postman." Despite sporadic successes, their influence on Motown as songwriters and backing vocalists remains significant. "Down to Love Town" became a disco classic. Their legacy includes collaborations with Stevie Wonder and David Ruffin. After years of touring, the group's recording lapsed by the mid-'80s. Gorman passed away in 2006, and C.P. Spencer in 2004.
