Formed in Oldham, Inspiral Carpets emerged in the late-'80s/early-'90s Madchester scene with psychedelic, organ-driven rock. Their hit "This Is How It Feels" hit the UK Top 20, and they toured with Noel Gallagher as a roadie. Known for clever merchandising and collaborations with Mark E. Smith and John Cooper Clarke, their albums like "Life" and "Devil Hopping" made them notable in the indie scene. After disbanding in 1995, they reformed for sold-out tours and released new music, ultimately pausing activities after drummer Craig Gill's death in 2016.

Despite lineup changes, they reunited multiple times, marking milestones like their 30th anniversary. Key collaborations included Malcolm Treece and Martin Gilks.
