Wayne Shorters rise to fame as one of the greatest jazz musicians/composers started at Birdland as a member of Art Blakeys Jazz Messengers.
For our birthday tribute, Wayne Escoferry (tenor sax), Helen Sung (piano), Lonnie Plaxico (bass), and Billy Kilson (drums) will perform the following pieces:
The performances will include selections from the Blakey years, as well as Shorters Blue Note Records years, and Pinnochio from his tenure with Miles Davis's second quintet.
