Wayne Shorters rise to fame as one of the greatest jazz musicians/composers started at Birdland as a member of Art Blakeys Jazz Messengers.
For our birthday tribute, Wayne Escoferry (tenor sax), Helen Sung (piano), Lonnie Plaxico (bass), and Billy Kilson (drums), will perform the following pieces:
This performance will feature works from the Blakey years and Shorter's Blue Note Records years, as well as a piece from his tenure with Miles Davis's second quintet.
